I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

This voyeurism movie about several young women inhabit a California beach house without realizing that they're being watched by someone else is nearly unwatchable, due to a lot of faults. This movie is no 1960's Peeping Tom. This movie first aired on Showtime-on-demand, as its midnight soft-core porn nightly line-up before coming into DVD release as Watchful Eye, and alternative titles like Natural Born Voyeur and Voyeur Beach. This TV movie is low-budget as it comes. Directed by Robert Kubilos, the movie fails to be, really that entertaining. You can see it, from the opening scene from this movie created by fat face production. What a stupid name for a production company!? The music in the beginning is so annoying by Herman Beeflink. The Shaky cam gives people a headache, and feel like a Baywatch rip-off. For a movie set in California beach house, the weather was just gloomy as hell. You really don't get any good beach scenes besides the opening. When you finally see the movie, it wasn't deliver, well with the characters portray in the film. There was a lot of filler scenes that has little to no reasons to be there. They even make up reasons to have more soft-core sex scenes like having a lesbian wet pool dream or the risqué photo shoot. The sex scene weren't that hot, as most of the girls, don't really stand out. The two blondes playing Chloe (Melissa Barmes) and Amber (Julie Cialini) look way too alike and their characters often does the same evil things. If you don't pay attention to their story, you can clearly get confused. Nikki Fairchild as Brooke has a nice body, but the face was not so much. Even her love scene with Dawn (Juliet Cariaga) was a let-down. If anybody really stood out in the film, it has to be Renee Rea as Shannon. Renee has a girl-next-door appeal that you could take home to show to your parents. I love what Renee Rea did to her hair. She sport the short hair, very well. Her natural body was a blessing. By far, the sexiest scenes in the movie had to be with her. All the women are overshadowed without a doubt by Renee; you just want to see more of her. Too bad, none of the women could act. I have to say, I can't believe any of them, being able to pull off being believe as an undercover cop. They don't even show any depth in emotional. The whole crying scenes were just laughable. The dialogue is so wooden. It's painful to sit through. My favorite odd exchange had to be Brooke telling Shannon that she's a smart girl, and Shannon takes it as a bad thing. How is being call, 'smart' be a negative? I guess, only in a film like this. The film itself is rather amateurish and drawn-out in the crime drama department. The fight-scenes are just awful, and badly done. The harsh language seem forced in and most of all, I know, the movie wanted to make some suspense, but some of the red herrings were so out of left field. Honestly, what the whole point of making it look like Gabriel from the party is filming her? When nobody mention him, later in the film. The whole concept of a peeping tom spying on them doesn't even get fully explain. In my opinion, it's one of the worst surveillance camera ever. It's so digital & blurry, that makes you wonder, why anybody would pay to see that footage anyways!? I can appreciate its attempt to tell a story out a soft-core film, but the twist need more logic sense. A good example of this is the Bathroom scene. No question to the others, no mention of why it's happening until a few scenes later. The movie pacing is out of whacked. The movie could had ended around the 70 minute mark, instead of the 83 minutes. The editing is just repeatable. I got so sick of the quick dissolves cut. It was so annoying. Scenes are just way too short as the movie suffers from hundreds of cuts. When the movie was released in DVD, it was released both are Rated R version and unrated version. Voyeur Beach is indeed the unrated version of Watchful Eye. It contains more sex scenes that runs to 90 min 30 in widescreen transfer. Overall: Indeed, there are better hotter smarter soft-core films out there, but if you really want to watch this movie. Watch the Voyeur Beach version. You'll have more kicks with that one.

I'm glad to see that women like Renee Rea occasionally make it into the soft core sex film market. Renee has a girl-next-door kind of appeal, with a cute face and a refreshingly NATURAL body, free of silicone enhancements. The other women in the film are good-looking too, but they're all overshadowed without a doubt by Renee; you just want to see more of her. The film itself is rather amateurish and drawn-out. I can appreciate its attempt to tell a crime story between the sex scenes, but it could have it all wrapped up in about 70 minutes, instead of 90. And for a movie set around a California beach house, it is surprisingly cloudy! *1/2 out of 4.

Voyeur Beach is the unrated version of Watchful Eye. It contains more scenes than the "R" rated movie. Sure it's still softcore, but Voyeur Beach does have some full frontal nudity, and if you like Renee Rea (Fast Lane to Vegas/Malibu) she's one of the sexy women in this film. The movie is basically about this house on the beach where couples are being watched as they have sex. There's some suspense at the end but not enough to make it a major thriller. So if you're into movies like Digital Sex, or any of those "Cinemax-type" late night movies you may want this one. So get VOYEUR BEACH on Amazon, runs 90 min 30 sec, more sex scenes. You will need a region free DVD player, the DVD is REGION 3. Most of the US releases have been edited, including the so-called UNRATED versions!

*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* I saw this on cable the other night. A hot blonde moves into a big house on voyeur beach. The house is wired with cameras so that the resident pervert can spy on them and make some cash. The girls party, swim naked and generally perform for the camera. Soon the party will come crashing down as murder and mayhem supersedes the sex. We all lose when that happens."Voyeur Beach" is lame. For some inexplicable reason, the filmmakers were more concerned with propelling the plot forward than lingering on the sex scenes. The truly sad part is that the sex scenes weren't even worth lingering on. None of the girls stood out in this one. They all had quick two minute sex scenes and then it was back to uncovering the mystery of voyeur beach. The true mystery is why the filmmakers even bothered making this movie. If they weren't interested in filming sex scenes, what possessed them to make a sex flick? Ahh whatever. Yet another wasted late night for me. Don't let it happen to you too. Avoid this one.
