Set in the not so distant future, in Any Town USA, sixteen-years-old Herman Howards makes a fateful decision. He enters his suburban school and kills thirty nine students, two teachers, and a police officer. Just before his arrest, he emails his idol, famous journalist Lax Morales, sending him clips of the shootings captured with Herman's own digital camera. In the clips Herman tells Lax, "I want to tell my story on your show". Lax, haunted by his own past, is now face to face with Herman.

This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

The premise of this movie could have made for a good story but the infantile development by the director was not only bias...something a real crime of this nature should certainly not need...but made you feel as if you were watching a bad soap opera. The b rate actors, excluding the reporter and the young criminal, bring a new low to movies. It would have been easier to watch an hour of the stupid video game they kept showing. Rob Estes was so bad that I actually hope I never, ever have to endure him on the screen again. If you are going to bash Fox...and I am not saying you shouldn't...make sure you at least appear smarter. Terrible direction and lousy actors shred any hope of the premise rising to any fruitful work.

To start, Hello Herman is a superb movie starring Norman Reedus from the walking dead, directed by Michelle Danner, a renowned acting coach from Los Angeles. Everything from the cinematography to the acting was excellent. The situations that take place in Hello Herman also takes place in real life, which made me emotionally connected to the movie. Hello Herman made me feel that people from all different areas of life need to love more. Love is one of the main feelings that this movie lacked. Actually, many occurrences that took place could have been avoided if there had been more love and understanding in this movie. Hello Herman teaches viewers the value of family bonding and to bond with others in general. To some it may not seem like that big of a deal to bond with others, however, it is really important to stimulate your mind by socializing with others rather than to numb your mind with video games. This movie is a perfect example of that, it is a reminder that video games have a reset button, while in real life you don't. It also shows what can happen when families don't bond or show love to each other. While watching this movie, I put myself in Herman's shoes and imagined what I will do if everything that happened to him happened to me. I probably would not have gone to the extent that Herman did, but I would have searched for ways to resolve the issues that I was facing. Overall, Hello Herman is a great movie to have been made because it shows a real life situation that goes on everyday, but most of the time it goes unheard of. I will definitely recommend Hello Herman to others.

This film dares to take a look at the problem of school shootings by looking at the problem of bullying and cyber-bullying, which are, sadly, continuously relevant aspects of everyday adolescence. This is a great movie for parents to watch with their high school kids-- even in middle school-- both to teach them about why bullying is wrong and to give them strength in overcoming their own potential bully issues in school. It also invites a dialogue about bullying in schools which is EXTREMELY important and not a common enough occurrence.Hello Herman is a movie full of different perspectives, so it doesn't dogmatically side with the victims or the shooter. To give you an idea of how bold this film is willing to be, the protagonist is a former White Power member who beats a young black boy to death. Whoah, right? Everyone is full of vices that they can't seem to overcome, which is a rare find in this cinematic age of super heroes and seemingly flawless do-gooders.

This film allowed the viewer think about the subject matter and come to a conclusion on their own. The performances from the two male leads was great. The chemistry between them really adds to their relationship dynamic. I would defiantly recommend this, especially with the campaign against bullying.By the end of the film, the audience can think about the next few years and how society will react to school shooting and bullying. The end of the film allows the audience to agree or disagree with the outcome or the means in which the outcome happened. You do not have to agree one hundred percent with everything in the movie and certainly not with the characters decisions or motives. But it does let to have a bit more understanding and compassion for all parties involved.
