Lady Snowblood (1974)
Yuki's family is nearly wiped out before she is born due to the machinations of a band of criminals. These criminals kidnap and brutalize her mother but leave her alive. Later her mother ends up in prison with only revenge to keep her alive. She creates an instrument for this revenge by purposefully getting pregnant. Yuki never knows the love of a family but only killing and revenge.

Overrated and overhyped
Fresh and Exciting
As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
The Movie about Yuki called herself Lady Snowblood on it way to find the four mans who killed her father, her brother, and raped her mother for her Revenge and met the man named Ryurei Ashio who become writer before he got arrest and met Okono/Kobue Kitahama she the one who killed her family, and yes she already dead. One of the most beautiful, stylistic and brutal action films I've seen. Tarantino essentially ripped off this one with Kill Bill. The cinematography and music were some of the highlights along with the great action choreography. Some of the most memorable sword slice killing in cinema is here. A must watch especially for all the Kill Bill fans.
The acting is so bad you would have thought they were in a children's play. The fight seen was so bad you will wish you were stabbed with a sword so you won't have to watch the rest. The story it self is so bad you would think it was written by a bunch of eleven year old boys. I saw the rating and I saw the reviews. I had to watch it. I'm guessing the review were written by some of the film students who think they are all knowledge and will make you watch bad movie after bad movie while they explain to you the concept of ART in Movie's.
This film is truly brilliant, a tale of vengeance wrought by a tragic character.The direction, acting and plot set this film above almost all others.It's been a long time since I watched a film so engrossing, and the forty-odd year age of it doesn't show; the captivating cinematography and cuts, the unedited one-shot takes, the superb soundtrack, and the sheer power of the performances (particularly Meiko Kaji, and her strong, naturally fierce facial expressions), wrapped around an absorbing and absolutely astonishing artifice.This film is beautiful, and I wish I could have unseen Kill Bill just to see this film first.
