It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

The movie was good. Songs were not at all good. BGM were good in the movie. SRK wonderful acting. The movie was interesting and thrilling. The climax was the main twist in the movie. But some scenes in the movie are so boring.

This is my first review on IMDb. I normally wouldn't but something compelled me...I'm astonished that this movie is getting a 7/10 rating, when its disappointing at best. Let me tell you why.If this was a Govinda starer, David Dhawan directed movie, sure, this would be popular with the masses who would greatly appreciate their ROI (return on investment). But the exceptions are sky high even before the movie hits pre- screening. Why is that?Well for one, its Shahrukh Khan. I've been an admirer of his early work such as Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Darr, Baazigar. His later works such as DDLJ, Swades, Chak De were admirable too. I own these movies.Farhan Akhtar with his legendary last name did a fabulous job with Dil Chahta Hai which was partly inspired from his own personal experiences and Lakshya, the beautiful coming of age story which was Hrithik's best. So, with the expectations set high, here we have a remake. The ground rule is that you must make the remake better than the original. Don fails here.Agreed that Chandra Barot didn't create a masterpiece with Amitabh but this movie is is not even a rehash of the original. I could entertain the plot twists of DeSilva being Vardhan as opposed to Mallik or just one kid Deepu instead of two or even the end where they reveal that Vijay is murdered in the hospital. The basic magic of taut tension in every scene was the landmark touch of Salim-Javed ji. Farhan, while adapting the screenplay seems to have been overly influenced with SRK and perhaps took in too many suggestions to make this movie a Bond flick when it's clearly a case of mistaken identity like Audrey Hepburn's Charade. To compare a few scenes, when Vijay is found by the gang for the first time, he is lying peacefully in a hut, clean shaven and well taken care of. In the original, Vijay is hurt, unshaven, dirty and thrown in the dirt which was more believable and had an element of tension to it. Another, when Jasjeet is walking the rope with his kids, there is much more tension than simply crossing a bridge between two buildings.Shahrukh Khan should really stop comparing himself to Amitabh Bachchan and believe in his own talent. There is a reason why SRK surpassed Salman, Aamir, Sanjay, Hrithik in popularity. Because he wasn't comparing himself to them. He fell short of Bachchan, because he was always comparing himself to Amitabh. Don simply lacks any tension and thus eliminating the entertainment factor for me. Farhan should stick to his original scripts which are usually great rather than making any changes suggested by SRK. Watch it once if you can for nostalgic value. I won't watch it again.

Lets start with the bad points: 1) The names of the characters are copied from the original 2) Parts of the story are the same as the original 3) Two famous songs copied from the originalThe good points: 1) Shahrukh Khan's performance in a double role was outstanding 2) More twists and turns than the original 3)It keeps you engaged right to the end 4) The music is great 5) Action sequences are goodOverall a good film. A must watch for Shahrukh fans! It is the closest thing to his famous performance in a negative role in Darr since it was released almost 20 years back.Verdict: definitiy watch it - I give it 7.5/10

I started watching Bollywood movies about a year ago and i must say that i find a great improvement in latest releases (compared to, lets say, movies that are 5 years old or more). Better acting, great camera angles, nice musical acts, interesting plots, and the scripts are waaaay better than before. Just to say that my husband LOVED this movie and also Om Shanti Om. Thats a lot to say because he is usually hypercritical and doesn't like Bollywood movies at all. Shahrukh is a better actor everyday. This performance was absolutely convincing, even if he has a double role as Vijay/Don, which are quite different characters. And nice fighting scenes. I didn't think i would see kung-fu fighting in a Bollywood movie. I sincerely hope we have more Bollywood releases in Argentina. They release only a few titles that go directly to DVD and are hard to find. Last movie to show in movie theaters was Lagaan.
