This amazing biblical drama chronicles the brave and historic legend of Hadassah, a Jewish orphan with exceptional beauty who rises to become Queen Esther of Persia and saves Persian Jews from genocide. By revealing her heritage to the king, Esther thwarts the evil prime minister's plan to annihilate all Jews in the Persian Empire. The annual festival of Purim is inspired by her heroism.

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The movie overall was very good. The acting, directing, scripting, all good. The scenes and costumes are rich and beautiful, a feast for the eyes.My only complaint is that it didn't stick to the story in the Bible. I understand that there needed to be some embellishment, but to stray from the story like it did is disappointing. Tommy Tenney, the author of the book they derived the movie from is a well known Christian author and speaker. I haven't read the book, so I don't know if he too strayed so far from the actual story.I was also disappointed to see that they lost money on the film. I truly hope that will not discourage them from making more movies. We really need more movies that have good morals and standards, but that will keep you interested throughout the movie (and this one did). Not an easy task these days...

The over-indulgent clowns at TBN have done it again!! This is one of the lousiest pieces of crap i ever wasted 2 hours of my life on and thats even weighed against all other TBN productions.. The real biblical story of Esther was great, but they ruined the story in this movie. especially when she began feeding ham to baboons. was that part in the Bible? it was so bad i think it should be called, "one night of extreme boredom". i would have given it zero stars, but unfortunately the minimum is one. the last unicorn is better than this crappy wreck.don't throw away 2 hours of your life watching this pathetic and miserable movie. this is 99% Hollywood and 1% bible. Xerxes 'More Precisely Ahauserus' was historically a very dominant ruler whose span of influence was truly sovereign and commanded the allegiance and confidence of a vast empire. By comparison Goss's "King" is neither sovereign or steadfast but rather comes across as a weepy old woman especially in his sappy dialogues with Ester. It certainly does not help that he is wearing more makeup than the actress playing Esther. Luke Goss's poor attempt at Aladdin-Esquire is deplorable and the screenwriter has the Biblical account badly confused with Arabian Nights. The casting was terrible, the dialogue was horrendous. Bottom-Line the only way to make a 2 hour movie out of 11 pages is to take ridiculous liberties including additional story lines which when the smoke clears leaves the end product totally unrecognizable. The Crouches and their cronies are yet to understand that big budgets and splashy visuals DO NOT make a great movie especially one saddled with an insipid plot and uninspiring actors. Ester was more than a pretty face and it amazes me how these idiots have taken one of the Bibles most inspirational characters and events and turned it to Melrose Place 588 AD. The credit music was horrible and the woman's voice singing it is remnescient of a cat being scalded with boiling water. The side affects of watching this piece of junk they call a movie may include multiple headaches, extreme boredom, falling asleep and excessive yawning: and an overwhelming urge to END ONE'S OWN LIFE!!!.

I loved this movie! When I first started watching it I thought it was going to be pretty uneventful and a tad on the corny side, but I ended up really enjoying it. In fact, I went out and bought the DVD the next day! Both the cinematography and the costumes were truly wonderful! Luke Goss was mesmerizing as the great King Xerxes and Tiffany Dupont was perfect for the role of Esther. I really appreciated how closely the film stayed true to the Bible's account of Esther. She was definitely a woman with great inner strength and a courage unlike that of any other. As a result, she was able to save her people, and gain the love and respect of a King. The music was also phenomenal- especially "Kingdom of Love" by Shani. My favorite part of the movie was when that song is being played while Hadassah walks up to meet the King and becomes the new Queen of Persia. What woman wouldn't want to be led by her husband on a garden of rose petals! And the scene where she enters in unannounced before the King was beautifully done as well. The chemistry between Goss and Dupont truly made the movie a success! Their love story was so beautifully portrayed in this film, and I'm glad that it was finally told in the way that most people imagined it was and should have been. A must-see!

I'm tired of writing bad reviews on Christian movies. Instead of pointing out how this could have been made better, I'm going to spend that energy writing my own scripts. I just finished my first short film script, and have 2 more in development. Pray for me.I'm not trying to bash anyone. I'm just hoping that the writers can admit that this script was poorly crafted, and not say, "This movie wasn't accepted because it was (gasp!) faith-based!" Regardless of your source material, there are methods for writing successful stories---and they are not secrets! Just go to the local library and check out the book "Story" by Robert McKee. That book taught me more than 4 years of sitting through creative writing classes in college. I will say that this movie gave me hope in one area: there was so much money, talent, and energy spent here, so we can know that Christians are hungry for good stories, and will pay for them to be produced. If I write a good script, there *will* be an audience for it.For right now, however, you're better off watching Veggie Tales. At least the writers there pay attention to their craft. And (can you believe it) the writers have read the above-mentioned book, "Story."
