This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

The government uses drones to create and seed clouds that turn all Frankenstein into ice twisters. Only Charlie (Mark Moses) an ex-scientist and fiction writer without a clearance can save the world. Luisa D'Oliveira is our token hot Asian chick. Blah, blah blah. This is a made for US TV movie using the standard formula for disaster films. I was bored within the first two minutes and it never let up.

Most days, I've learned to avoid SyFy channel movies. Most are utter garbage . . . this one was pretty decent. Many of the reviews note the similarity with Twister, and there is some of that. They then added in a few of the standard themes of SyFy movies, mostly the pseudo-science that fills most of these types of films, whether done for release in the cinema or released straight-to-video/TV. Still, they mostly made the premise work in this one.The result was a engaging story with some pretty good (and some awful) FX. Most of the acting was pretty good, with Mark Moses and Ryan Kennedy providing strong performances. In conclusion, I would watch it again given the opportunity.

I realize that certain things in Science Fiction have no basis in reality. I also realize that Syfy uses the small budget that they have to at least make these films somewhat funny, when they know they aren't very good. What I don't understand is why bother making the film at all, when it is this bad? The special effects are a complete joke, the acting was just plain bad, and as for the story...it was a neat concept until they started doing things that were just completely stupid. I can't decide what was stupider, so maybe you can... Driving through a tornado if you do it at the correct angel, a storm cell that chases the scientists that created it, and of course the Sci-Fi author who solves problems, government scientists can't, using just his stories. This movie is ridiculous Canadian garbage and whoever wrote it deserves to be blacklisted!

There are lots of disaster movies out there, most of them have good intentions, but fail to deliver the entertainment. "Ice Twisters" is one of those movies. The CGI effects are bad, yes. Especially the twisters themselves. But if you can get past the bad effects, the movie is not that entirely bad. There are lots of worse disaster movies out there, "Quantum Apocalypse" and "Megafault", to name but a few. When you sit down to watch these types of movies you want to see some destruction and mayhem, and there was very little of that shown in this movie. The cast was adequate and the acting was adequate. The worst thing in the movie was the fact that these freezing storms and twisters would freeze buildings, soil, a tractor, people, an airplane and even a train, but for some unexplained reason the car with the "heroes" in it could drive undamaged through one of these ice twisters! Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Or like when people were commenting on the air being freezingly cold, but their breathing didn't show the 'steam' venting. The concept of the movie is basically alright, but the lack of proper CGI effects to make you go "wow" is what brings this movie to a below average experience. You might consider this movie like an appetizer for a CGI-overload fest like "2012".
