Crappy film

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

The movie is not THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME, but still this isn't a 3.9 score, seriously now. Leslie Nielsen ( God rest his soul ) was an amazing actor, every single movie that he played, that movie was doomed to be good. Probably here are some guys that don't taste this kind of comedy, they are way to mature and intelligent to laugh at dumb jokes and scenes, but Mr. Magoo (the movie) was funny as hell. You guys should loosen up a little, pull that stick from your ass and learn how to feel good and enjoy a great movie. If in comedies they will make academic jokes no one will laugh because no one will understand them. We need lame as jokes and as stupid and funny as possible. :DMy vote is 8 / 10 ... loved the movie, and Leslie Nielsen, my favourite comedy actor. <3

"All I want to say is that it's a really funny movie. That was like the funniest movie ever."I'll just add that I've always enjoyed Leslie Nielsen's acting, both serious and comic, and he definitely delivered a fine performance in this somewhat maligned flick. It's really interesting how many people couldn't rate this movie according to the opinion of the target audience (grade school), and instead tried to see it as something like "Airport" or "Naked Gun". Unfair comparison. Those movies were made with adults in mind, even if teens were more its market. But "Mr. Magoo" is definitely for young children. I loved hearing my youngest cackle every few minutes. And frankly, by letting myself just be a kid for 88 minutes, I found myself laughing here and there and the cuter gags. Oh, and I'm sorry, but that scene with Magoo not realizing his cooking channel got switched to an aerobics channel and starting to do the workout with his chicken is comic genius. That was hysterical by any standard. So, yeah, this movie deserves a 10 in its genre -- which is really how any movie should be judged, if you think about it.

Mr. Magoo (1997): Dir: Stanley Tong / Cast: Leslie Nielsen, Kelly Lynch, Malcolm McDowell, Ernie Hudson, Stephen Tobolowski: One joke comedy about sight impaired Mr. Magoo who is accidentally present during a jewel theft, and the ruby that ends up in his tackle box. Villains attempt to nab the ruby but with no success and the police bug Magoo's house believing him to be a suspect. Boring plot with no signs of potential with many predictable developments structured around Magoo's various misunderstandings and mishaps. Directed by Stanley Tong who previously made one of Jackie Chan's worst films, First Strike. Here he not only proves to know little if anything about the cartoon, but he also makes one of Leslie Nielsen's worst films. There are actors who do shitty films without the name stamping director to imply it. Magoo's nephew Waldo looks nothing like the guy in this film. He doesn't even act like the guy in this film. The river raft parachute scene also doesn't work. Leslie Nielsen would seem ideal choice to play Magoo but he is recycling variations of other roles in films much better and funnier than this. Even his bald headed makeup isn't convincing. Kelly Lynch, Malcolm McDowell and Ernie Hudson are wasted in pathetic cardboard supporting roles. Pointless portrayal of a cartoon that proves that more than Magoo had bad eye sight. Score: 1 / 10

Mr. Magoo is at times silly, and at others, very silly. But always funny.I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a late-night movie. But if your looking for a substantial movie with anything serious about it, forget it! This is a movie for when you're staying up way too late and need some good laughs, or any time you need some good laughs for that matter!Larry Nielson is in high form, with marvelous comedy from the supporting cast, a winner in my opinion: don't hesitate to take this one home with you!
