This movie was remarkable and took my breath away. I have watched this movie a few times over. Even that the script was word from word from the bible. The acting was BRILLIANT. Henry Ian Cusick made you believe he was Christ himself. Cusick made you believe in GOD all over again. Christopher Plummer narration of the story made it exciting to watch. He put suspense in it even though you knew what was going to happened. Jeff Danna score to the movie FOLLOW ME made you cry at the end of the movie knowing that Christ will never been seen again unless he wanted you to. This movie touched my heart, and should be played every year in churches and homes through out the world. This was the best biblical movie I have ever seen.

This movie is totally captivating. I had been so used to the rather cliché evangelistic films that when I watched it for the first time I had not put my expectations too high. But once you start watching it you simply can't get your eyes off the screen. This is Christian art at its best. The Scriptures do come alive as you follow the story. Jesus is real in this film, and so are all the other characters. This depiction of Jesus may be the closest to expressing the rich and glorious Person that He is. The depth of the Lord's emotion, commitment, wisdom, generosity, bravery, submission and love, as well as His teaching and ministry come across so clearly that there can be no doubt that this is Jesus Christ, the Lord. This film will shake you to the core. I was impressed with the debates Jesus had with the Jews. He was displaying deep human emotion yet His authority as the Son of God ministering to people did come through very clearly as well. They reached the perfect balance to show the Son of Man as the Son of God. You cannot but see the love of God in "The Gospel of John."Of course, Mel Gibson's "The Passion" has to be taken into account, as one of the top films on the subject, too. Yet, "The Passion" focuses only on the hours before and after Jesus' crucifixion, while this one goes through the whole Gospel of John. I can see the Holy Spirit's hand all over this production. May God bless the director, actors, producers and the whole crew for putting their talent and work to retell the greatest story of all time in a way that is faithful to the Word and worth watching over and over.

As something of a Jesus movie junkie I have to say that The Gospel of John is my favorite of them all. Yes, I even like it better than The Passion. It is long, so first you have to adjust to the fact that this is meant to dramatize an entire Gospel. Once you've accepted that, the greatness of this movie dawns on you.The production values are first rate. The sets, the clothes, the effects are accurate and extremely well done, even down to the threads in the fabrics. There are several miracles, but the one that truly stands out for me is Christ walking on water. This is far and away the best dramatization of that legendary moment, ever. There are long discourses by Jesus, apparently because that's how St. John recalled him speaking. The director handles these marvelously well -- they are not just talking heads. The fact that they use the conversational Good News Bible for the script keeps you from being overwhelmed by waves and waves of 'bible talk.' But what really makes it work is the unbelievable acting of Henry Ian Cusick. Let me put it this way: Have you ever watched a movie about Christ and secretly wondered why anybody would have followed him, since he's usually played so stiff and formal? Not here. Cusick's Jesus is smart, quick, bold, and charismatic. I would've followed that Jesus anywhere! Christopher Plummer's narration is just right too and ties everything together. The DVD has a lot of extra information about the meticulous study that went into making this film, and the truly gifted way the Director, Philip Saville, brought this Gospel to life.

I am 41 years old and ever since I was a kid I have envisioned Jesus a certain way. The way he looked, the way he talked. When I first saw this movie I was blown away. This is my Jesus!!!! Strong, powerful and real!!!! Wow!!!! I have watched this DVD over and over again and all I can say is WOW!!!! The actors in this movie are unbelievable. St. John and St Thomas will leave you in tears. If you have read the Gospel of John you should read it again before watching this movie. This movie, The Gospel of John, is word for word on the written Gospel of John. The movie will pump you up and all you will be able to talk about is this movie. If you know unbelievers you will be able to double you efforts to convert them and bring them into your church. This movie has given me so much inspiration, it is all I can talk about. Get the DVD so you can watch it over and over again....God Bless......
