The Dark Tapes (2017)
A genre-defying mixture of horror, sci-fi, myth, mystery and thrills told as four interlocking tales in one intelligent anthology. Ghosts, spirits, creatures, demons and more from the paranormal world collide with rational curiosity.

Excellent but underrated film
Don't listen to the negative reviews
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I once read that if you give a typewriter infinite time to a monkey, such monkey will eventually type Hamlet, for instance. In the case of "Dark Tape", somebody gave a bunch untalented people some filming equipment and not enough time... The result is "Dark Tapes".
THE DARK TAPES is yet another found footage horror effort which mixes in science fiction elements for an anthology tape. The format is immediately recognisable from the likes of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY while there's some social media activity to get it bang up to date. Sadly, the lack of money means that ghosts and demons are discussed rather than shown, and it's all very static and talky when it should be involving and thrilling.
Easily on par with V/H/S and other recent horror anthologies. This one kept my interest throughout, and I look forward to any additions to this series. I love found footage films- well, many of them-- but this one was special. I sincerely hope this does well and bodes well for the future of these filmmakers.
I really did not expect to like this movie! I thought it was going to be pretty bad...but it was actually fun to watch! It has moments that would make you go "hmmm.." but everything else is pretty good. Like the other users said, if you love found footage movies, you'll enjoy this one.
