All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Seen this many times. I had a long RV trailer and thought about Ricky's experience. Desi and Lucy really are the greatest!

"The Long, Long Trailer" is an absolutely perfect movie: Lucy & Desi are so multi-talented, utterly timeless and endlessly enjoyable in every scene! The writing is clever and funny, the direction is flawless, the scenery and music are fantastic. The 1950s provided some of the absolute best in entertainment - not to mention, the most awesomely-designed cars, the coolest clothes, and the neatest home furnishings - all of which we see in this wonderful film. (It's unheard of today but classic duos like Lucy & Desi, Jackie Gleason & Art Carney, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, Tony Randall & Jack Klugman, Bud Abbott & Lou Costello, Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, Gilligan/Bob Denver & Skipper/Alan Hale, Jr., Andy Griffith & Don Knotts, were so talented that they could carry entire TV shows or films on their own!) We never tire of watching this movie - it's a perfect time capsule of the Fun & Fabulous '50s!

Tacy and Nicky by a 40' trailer to be their home in early married life. The story is told in flash-backs from Nicky's point of view. The couple plans to travel from California to Colorado for Nicky's first job assignment after the wedding - honeymooning along the way. The fun starts as soon as they pull out of the driveway and never stops. Everything that can possibly go wrong, does. Now this is called this "full-timing". This movie is a must for anyone who dreams of extended travel in any kind of RV. All of us have experienced a few of these goofs, and it reminds us that things never go as smoothly as you planned. I love it!

Because fans stayed away from this film in droves, Lucy and Desi made only one more movie together. Too bad, because this film is far superior to the series. Credit should go to veteran director Vincente Minelli and his sure hand in balancing the material. Against all odds: Ball's slapstick is drained of usual shrillness, Desi's star is allowed to shine, situation is raised above personality, and peripheral crowd scenes are heightened to hilarious commentary on busybody middle America. In fact, this is one of few 50's movies to capture spirit of a rising middle class: the buoyant optimism, the credit card dependency, the aping of upper class tastes. All is accomplished, nevertheless, with an underlying sweetness that might not be expected from two overaged stars then in the process of subduing the tigers of TV land. Moreover, the choice of a trailer gimmick for the comedy setting was an inspired one. A true little gem and document of its time.
