Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
A great film that unfortunately contains a series of scenes that are misunderstood by uneducated audience. Those of use who grew up in predominately minority areas or share the black experience will enjoy this movie. This movie already has a cult following with people in the social sciences field. But like I will say, if you grew up in the suburbs and have never seen violence, don't understand how gangs work or recruit, don't understand the plight of single black mothers, don't understand poverty then you will not understand this great film. There were strong performances by all the actors involved and it was nice to see young talent being introduced.
