The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

I don't think it was meant to be funny as the first reviewer opined. I think it was meant to be exactly what it is - an over the top mind bending take on The Shining. After watching it, my first thought was "...words escape me" though now I can say without fear of contradiction that of all the YouTube videos I've ever seen, this one is the most recent.Whether you are a Shining fan, just appreciate work that may not be your taste but where you can appreciate the amount of time and effort went into the production, or you just want to send your mind of on a crazy romp, this vid is for you.

"The Chickening" is a 5-minute spoof of Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining", written and directed by Nick DenBoer and Davy Force. There are a handful extracts from the real movie, many of which include Jack Nicholson, but the rest was basically spiced up by the duo for comedic value. I like "The Shining", but that's not the reason why I did not like this one. Maybe it was just too absurd for my taste and I certainly cannot say there was one single scene that made me really laugh unfortunately. If you see this little movie once, it certainly is enough, maybe even once too many and I cannot say that this got me interested in any way in the other works of DenBoer and Force. Not recommended.
