A group of six friends are out in the rural south on a deer hunt when they start hearing strange noises coming from the woods. Like the living dead in every other movie, these zombies are hungry for human flesh and soon set to chowing down on the hapless hunters.

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

Six bad actors...Er, friends (including a character named "Blind Kiyomi") are out in the rural South on a deer hunt, only to find an old diary of sorts. Well, one of them takes it, and the next thing you know, a horde of Undead Confederate Soldiers come for revenge. In my many years of watching horror, I can think of many that were bad. Some (Such as House of the Dead, Feardotcom, Captivity, and The Crater Lake Monster) are so bad, they actually made me feel physical pain. "Curse of the Screaming Dead" (aka. "Curse of the Confederate Cannibals"-oh Troma) is one of those movies. The acting isn't just bad, it's amateur local commercial bad. The zombies are among the most unconvincing I've ever seen. The score is atrocious. The gore is cheap beyond words. We are treated to zombies consuming flesh-in a scene that drags on for far too long. The list goes on.It may sound like a "so bad it's good" affair, but it's not.A shame in a way, as the idea of Confederate Soldier Zombies is actually pretty cool. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't work in the end, and it's torture to sit through. Avoid.Update: Actually, now that I think about it, the score isn't too bad. The movie itself...still crap.

(Curse of the Cannibal Confederates) Contains no ski, some gore. A group of friends go on a road trip that ends with them disturbing some confederate soldier spirits, who decide to attack them and feed on their flesh. - - - This was the first time I'd seen a zombie movie that was actually dull. There's plenty of screen time for the gut munchers, but, despite a decent idea, the movie is sabotaged by the director and actors. There's no talent in this one and it even wears thin once you start heckling it. I don't think I've ever seen a movie so devoid of content as this one. Not entertaining and thoroughly avoidable.0 out of 4

an edge-of-the-seat horror thriller made in 1982 with a highly original and unique twist on the living dead sub genre. OK – if you find your enjoyment in expensive special effects, but don't care about a good story or any tension whatsoever you are better off with any of the new 110-million-dollar-blockbusters that Hollywood keeps vomiting out. However, if you are looking for good stories, real tension and inventiveness in art making, here is a fine example. The budget for this film cannot have exceeded the three figure mark, but I have been on the edge of my seat watching this thing, which is something that the Big Conglomerates never manage anymore, with their products that are never the vision of an ARTIST but more a consensus between the money hungry executives. The picture quality may not be perfect, lighting improvisational and sound editing inventive when you know that the sources vary a lot. But who cares – this director has made something with his non existent budget that Hollywood can only dream of, and one can only wonder what kind of brilliance this guy would have delivered if he would have had even 10.000 dollars to work with!!

I don't know whats wrong with you people. "Curse of the Screaming Dead" has got to be one of the best zombie flicks out there. It's got great gore effects and the acting is pretty good. Well I can't say uch for the makeup because it's just white face paint with black eye shadow. But there are a few badly rotted zombies that look really nice. The lighting unfortuanately is really bad, so you can't see much but at least you can see the picture. I own his movie and other great movies. If anyne has an extra copy they can spare though i'll buy it from them for 9.99. I never know when I may need an extra copy. And as for the guy who wrote the review titled "Confederate Zombies" I just want to ask. Would you like to watch a movie with a bunc of naked male zombies walking around? I know I wouldn't. I give this movie a whopping 10!
