I saw this movie years ago when it first appeared on TV and I completely fell in love with Armand. His eyes are mesmerizing. I love movies based on real events. The actors made me really believe in the agony and heart-rendering pain the real people went through to bring Leona back to the valuable life she was meant to live. I felt totally involved in the whole facial reconstruction process, which I thought was absolutely amazing--especially the ideas the surgeon and Leona came up with to solve each reconstruction problem. This is the kind of romance I enjoy--the kind without sex scenes. This was real acting. We have a friend who comes over every other Saturday to watch movies with us. We will definitely order this one because I know my friends have never seen it.

I viewed this film on Lifetime TV in 1984 and was very moved by the content. It made me stop and think about my own strength and how I would handle this same situation. I don't understand why it has never been aired again since that time. I always watch lifetime with the hope of seeing this movie. If anyone every hears of it being aired again on lifetime or any other station, or it being available for purchase on DVD, PLEASE email me to let me know. I would love to have my teenage daughters see this movie. It is a real life lesson in what the meaning of TRUE LOVE means. It teaches you that beauty is only skin deep and that at any time our lives can change in a split second.

This movie hasn't been shown since its release. It should! It is a great story of courage, triumph, hope, friendship, tragedy and love. Lifetime should definitely add this to its list of must see movies! You can't go wrong watching this story! Glynnis and Armand are great in this! I was very moved when it originally aired in the early 80's. It made an impact on my life that I will never forget. I always wonder how the characters are doing now. This movie showed that the nurse triumphed over what life dealt her in the tragic accident. If you can find this movie on tape/CD please get it. I will be waiting for its re-airing! I hope someone that can make that happen reads this!

This is a wonderful film for both those who have and have not experienced such trauma. I saw this film in the 80's. I had a car accident in 1997. My face popped through the windshield, leaving me temporarily blind and with deformed facial features that required a half dozen surgeries over 3 years. Today, you'd never know it ever happened to me, my surgeon was amazing, but when Leola unwrapped her bandages for the first time and saw her face it sent chills down my spine. I cried when I saw my face too... I believed my whole life was over. The portrayal of her emotional state immediately after the accident, her absolute need to get "back to normal" and back to work just 5 weeks after the accident, and especially the patience required to let the skin heal through the initial trauma and all of the follow-up surgeries was absolutely accurate. There is something for all of us to learn from Leola's story and I am glad they put her story on the screen. MFTV, yes, but one of the best of these types of films, and certainly one of the most inspirational and accurate survival stories I have ever seen.
