Pups (1999)

Excellent but underrated film

A Masterpiece!

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I found Misha Bartons character to lack substance! In fact a lot of her character's do (yes even 'the OC') She doesn't know how to act and yes she has a good body but her acting skills are dreadful!Although it had say 2 "big" names in it, this movie - ultimate low budget and not to mention the script was boring - was completely crap!I think the writer just wanted to put as many swear words as possible in to the movie just to make it more interesting!Although the thought of most of the things that were brought the viewers attention in the movie were real life struggles people have to deal with I just found it all a little bit too much!but all in all, i can't believe I watched the whole thing! lol

First off, i bought this DVD purely for BURT REYNOLDS (he STILL outshines all of his material, in whatever movie) and even i know, that 'THE BANDIT' has picked some bad movies, since BOOGIE NIGHTS. PUPS is a step in the right direction. The two young actors pull off good performances (that if played wrong, could result in cringes all-round) and despite a FEW lapses into talking TOO grown up (for their years) the foul language worked (it shows how grown up, ADULTS sound, when THEY use such language)I'm sure it's a pretty low budget movie, but it just goes to show what you can do with a good tight script, and an unusual premise. Although, the black guy (from the bank) attitude changed, from hostile hostage to playful guest at the sudden sight of 'blowing bubbles', and the crippled guy was an annoyance (but i reckon it's better to give the guy hang-ups, at least they were justified?)BURT REYNOLDS gave a calm relaxed, yet focused performance (harking back to his legendary 'SHARKYS MACHINE' days, i think) For a lot of the negative reviews i've read for this movie, you can't say it drags on. But the (way too slick) MTV sequence, turns into double-sided sword, as it tries to have it's cake (throw it away)..and STILL eat it. I'm sure it seemed like good publicity for the music channel, but they also came across as self-centered, manipulative and completely un-bothered about it's source of income (i.e, the youth of today)Having said that, i have recomended this fine movie to all 9 out of 10

Unfortunately, the same person ("Ash") wrote, directed and produced this, thereby circumventing the checks and balances that otherwise might lead to a watchable movie.This movie is really bad in every category. The acting consists mostly of waving a gun and shouting profanities. The camera work is jerky hand held style.The plot? Two kids rob bank, have standoff with Burt Reynolds, want MTV interview. The End. But how many banks are open before school hours, say eight AM?Also, I'm pretty sure Mischa's skimpy outfit (tank top/mini skirt) is not up to school regulations, but for some people, the few panty shots might be the highlight of the film. Nothing to recommend.

I thought of Pups as a good movie. So what if it has bad acting. So what if they blur out F*** in every sentence. I liked it! I know most people hate it, and I know why and I respect your Opinions, but some people need to be a little open minded sometimes. Misha Barton is a great actress...but she was so bad in this film. And believe it or not....Burt Renolds was good in it. Has This world gone mad!!!My Rating: 8/10
