Inspector Claire Little rescues two flea-infested bull terriers in Hull that are missing half their fur, while puppy Alfie continues his progress and learns how to walk on the lead. Inspector Herchy Boal recalls the shocking case of Rex, the presa canario found with a metal hook through his neck and Alan catches up with Poppy the Jack Russell, who was suffering from a chronic parasitic disease.

In Scunthorpe, an anxious inspector offers a new lease of life to two Labradors that have been kept in training cages by their overwhelmed owner, and a puppy at the Southridge Animal Centre finds a new home.

In Hull, an obese chocolate labrador called Candy has been left to suffer with a chronic ear infection and a skin condition, while in the Wirral, Louie, an American bulldog, was left to fend for himself in a locked house surrounded by his own mess.

Inspector Lyndsey attends a property to find a very hungry husky, which is not only seven kilograms underweight, but also has conjunctivitis. In the Wirral, Inspector Anthony Joynes is called out to a shocking case in which nine-year-old German Shepherd Reo has been left with an awful skin condition. Plus, the bittersweet tale of Peg, a beloved crossbreed who befriended a para in Afghanistan.

Inspector Callum Isitt teams up with the police to track down four dogs in London, including two St Bernards that have allegedly been beaten by their owners. The trail leads him to Parliament Square, where it is believed that dogs like the missing ones are being used to scam passers-by out of cash. Meanwhile, Inspector Anthony Joynes visits a property where seven underweight American bulldog pups are struggling to get enough nutrition from their exhausted mum.

An unfriendly welcome awaits Inspector Anthony Joynes when he swoops in to save four dogs from an overcrowded house, with one of the animals clearly in need of treatment. Tanya Crawley shares the story of how she bonded with her lurcher after nursing it through a muzzle infection, and trained Medical Detection Dog Mia lets her owner know that it is time for a check-up.

The animal welfare series continues as Alan focuses on four very different dogs that underwent incredible transformations. Inspector Nick Wheelhouse is called in deal with three adult mastiffs and nine puppies in north London that are all drastically underweight. In Essex, the rescuers provide the elderly owner of Blue, an overweight whippet, with a new diet and exercise regime that will help him shed the excess pounds. The also catches up with Mavis, one of nine poodles abandoned by the side of the road in Winchester. When they were found, their wet, matted coats accounted for more than 40 per cent of their body weight, but now Mavis regularly goes for grooming and pampering treatments with her owner Sally. Finally, Anthony Pulfer checks in on Prince, the shar pei who was found with barely any fur.

An underweight and heavily pregnant dog is brought in to the hospital for an emergency procedure to deliver her pups, and due to the animal's poor condition, Inspector Annie Simmonds is called in to investigate. Inspector Anthony Jenkins and vet Becky McAlpine tend to a bull mastiff in Merseyside with an unusual skin condition, while in Nuneaton, Herchy Boal meets a heartbroken owner who must give up her two beloved terriers following a marriage breakdown. Plus, Anthony Pulfer catches up with Gucci, the severely neglected American bulldog that was reduced to eating her own faeces when inspectors found her last year. Anthony sets out to discover whether Gucci is thriving in her new home.

A female Jack Russell is found alone and frightened with a badly broken leg on a traveller site in Dagenham, and the rescuers takes her in for treatment, but even their timely intervention may not be enough to restore her ability to walk. A former puppy farm resident is given a chance to train as a sheepdog in Yorkshire, and Inspector Anthony Pulfer sends an emaciated German shepherd off for specialist treatment. Alan visits Socks, an old acquaintance whose persistent flea problem has finally become a thing of the past.

A behavioural trainer takes on a group of uncontrollable Japanese chin puppies, and Alan catches up with a Staffordshire bull terrier from an earlier episode to see how it is settling into its new home. In the Wirral, Inspector Anthony Joynes rescues two collie crosses, while Inspector Herchy Boal comes to the aid of a dog that has collapsed with puncture wounds after a fight.
