The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Nothing new in five American teenagers going on a road trip and falling foul of (insert you monster or redneck family of choice here). However, every once in a while a film comes along that tells a tried and tested story, but with enough flair to make it just that little bit more memorable.'Reeker' tells the story of five American teenagers going on a road trip and falling foul of... do you really need to know? If you watch the sort of film where these beautiful kids keep getting killed off by one monster/cannibal after the next, it doesn't matter who's doing the deed, only that it's entertaining. And Reeker is entertaining, just.First of all, for a low budget flick, the gore is nicely done. There are also some vaguely humorous moments to lighten the mood. Secondly, the killer is nicely done and moves in a genuinely creepy way (possibly a distant cousin of the 'Peeper' in Jeepers Creepers). However, where Reeker falls down is that, although the film may be nice and well done, there's nothing particularly new here - not enough to really set it up as a classic. There's still the old 'have sex and die' cliché, plus the "I'll be right back" (and die) cliché, followed by the attempted twist in the tale cliché. And, once the clichés start coming, what charm the film has starts to dwindle. You'll probably have guessed which characters live and die within the first few minutes of meeting them - they're all pretty stereotypical, so there's not too much in the way of suspension.Basically, if you like the sound of Reeker (and that type of movie in general), you could certainly do worse than this. I didn't feel like I wasted an hour and a half of my life watching it, but I'm not sure I could be bothered to sit through it again, simply because I have a dozen better versions of this movie in my DVD collection already.

A stinking beast is coming to kill some college kids? I'm in!There was no doubt that I felt "Reeker" had some potential and the incredible twist ending really showed it. However, there were too many failures during the rest of the film to make the movie that worthwhile. For example, the characters don't really have much going for them. Putting aside that most of them look too old to play the age they are suppose to be playing, none of them really had much character to them and I pretty much, after watching the film, can only remember them by their hair color, gender and, maybe, their name. During the film's running length, not much is done to really feather out or develop these characters and it didn't help things that the actors portraying them didn't look like they were putting much effort into them. With the exception of Scott Whyte as the annoying character Trip; he was giving his all to make sure you hated him every second of the film.Additionally, the film has no real scares to speak of and director Dave Payne did nothing to build tension or even have a creepy atmosphere in the film. Everything you see is one giant cliché in the genre of horror and this becomes even more evident with the lackluster design of the film's antagonist. While Stank Beast works as a metaphor for the film's ending and its stinky attributes has some major play during the twist, the generic look they gave the creature and the fact it looked like the characters were smelling a dirty litter box rather than a horrid monster ready to claim their mortality didn't help sell the film and ended up making me laugh rather than shiver in fear."Reeker" had some potential and I genuinely though the ending was decent but the film suffered from a weak tone, an antagonist that was hard to take seriously, forgettable acting and characters, and not a single scare in sight.Hi! My name is Rev. Ron and I love movies! So much so that I write a blog where I review whatever film I am currently watching. Reeker (2005) First watch and I seen the sequel number of times, I really enjoyed it.I been really looking forward to this one. This one hell of a bore fest, I did not like this movie at all.I found it so dull and didn't care not about anyone in the movie and I could not understand what some of them were even saying.I didn't not find of the scenes, scary, what so ever, the acting was not to bad by some of the cast. The gore scenes were not that gory at all, I was expecting a lot more gore.4 out of 10 (I liked the sequel much better)

When this film began with a much-repeated formula -(bunch of late-teens getting ready for a road-trip)-I had the distinct feeling that I'd soon be saying "seen It all before". But no, It's actually very entertaining, with plenty of "make-you jump" moments, some convincing, gory special effects and - apart from the horrendous "Australian" accent of Gretchen - some decent acting from a bunch who really seem to be trying hard to make an effort. The teens, along with one or two others, spend most of the Movie In and around a deserted Motel, fending off **(Something!)** intent on dealing out death and destruction. The whole thing starts to get a little confusing until a very clever and unexpected ending which tops off the film very nicely. I recommend this movie, It's definitely one of the better ones of It's kind.
