Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I love this movie. I think it's a great concept, and it's so different from a lot of other romantic comedies. I love the acting, and I think the cast were a great choice. I have seen this movie a lot, maybe not as many weddings as Jane has been a bridesmaid at, but still, a lot. This is the story of a young woman named Jane. She has a lot of friends. So many in fact, that she has been a bridesmaid at twenty-seven weddings. She never says no to her friends, and she always plans all of their weddings. That's a big task. She's in love with her boss, of course, but after Jane's sister, Tess, comes into town, George starts falling for the sister. Awkward. But, Tess is a manipulative liar, and she's only pretending to be everything George wants. Jane meets Kevin, a cynical writer who decides to do a story on the fact that she's been a bridesmaid more than two dozen times. In the end, Jane finds love unexpectedly.Best part of this episode: The wedding / dressing-up montages.Worst part of this episode: Jane's sister, ugh.Overall, I give this movie an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

I watched this movie on a network with commercials and did not finish watching it but saw most of it. I cannot believe so much money was spent with such a poor result. This movie fails on many levels. First, the idea that Katherine Heigl's character is interesting enough to be featured in a big feature story for a large New York newspaper is balderdash. Heigl's character is boring and largely uninteresting. The plot is contrived. The actress who plays her sister cannot act. The scene where she freaks out about the newspaper article does not work. She cannot carry that scene.Katherine Heigl's role as the woman who is always the bridesmaid is not convincing. No one would believe that a woman of Heigl's beauty and charm would be unable to find a suitable husband. The actor playing the newspaper reporter who falls for Heigl does not have chemistry with Heigl and he is miscast for the role. I do not buy him as a newspaper reporter. The actor who plays Heigl's boss and the guy she thought she loved is underused. He seems bored by the role.Overall this is a superficial and forced plot that begs to be interesting. With so much money to spend to make this movie one would think that the producer's could have delivered a better product.

27 Dresses is a romantic comedy that stars Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. It was about a woman who has served as a bridesmaid a shocking 27 times wrestles with the prospect of supporting her sister at the altar on number 28,despite having fallen helplessly in love with her smitten sibling's handsome husband-to-be. The film was directed by Anne Fletcher. The plot starts when Jane, played by Heigl, has the kind of altruistic traits that everyone looks for in a friend, yet lately the perennial bridesmaid has begun to feel as if something is missing in her life. One night, local newspaper reporter Kevin spots the devoted bridal attendant racing between receptions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and quickly surmises that her quirky tale may be just the story to get him off the bridal beat and into the big time. Immediately suspicious of the cynical reporter's motivations, Jane butts heads with Kevin just as her younger sister Tess shows up in town. While Jane has always put the needs of friends and family before her own wants and desires, she's suddenly prompted to reevaluate her priorities when her boss -- with whom she is secretly in love -- falls for her younger sister Tess. When Tess and Jane's boss George make plans to marry, the smitten younger sibling mistakenly assumes that her lovelorn older sibling will be happy to take part in the wedding. For as far back as Jane can remember, she has sacrificed her own happiness for the sake of those she holds dearest, but now that her heart has been broken, she's finally found the courage to be honest with herself. Now, as Jane finally comes to terms with her true feelings, her life begins to change in ways she never expected. The movie is definitely clichéd,predictable and most of all forgettable. But nevertheless,Heigl's presence makes it entertaining.Although she could fare better in good movies like Knocked Up,she makes up for the many negative things the movie has like its dry humor and unoriginal ideas borrowed from other films. Also, the actors except for Heigl were uninteresting and looks uninspired where the plot is headed.Overall,it remains a good view only for Katherine Heigl and for young people in love.

If you wish to see this movie please realize, first off, this is a romantic comedy, so nobody is hacked to death and nothing is blown up. There are no car chases, martial arts sequences or exploding nuns. Once you get past those flaws, omissions, oversights, restraints of budget, gaping plot holes, etc, you can enjoy this film, and I say this as a testosterone-driven politically incorrect man (I work out seven times a week, do martial arts, did a grad school history paper on the evils of outlawing prostitution, view most women as completely neurotic (do men send love letters to female serial killers?) and would like to remind you that in the mammal kingdom monogamy exists only once, that is in the vole, and only one type of vole not all of them) . The Plot: Katherine Hegel plays a woman who is super sweet, but a doormat. She is especially fond of weddings and has planned nearly thirty of them for friends., Michael Madsen is the weddings writer for The Times, there is a meet-cute (when the two romantic leads meet in a coincidental situation, e.g.: he rollerskates into her in the park, they both are carrying the same obscure novel and strike up a conversation) and they begin an odd relationship with plenty of bumps: her eco-friendly boss, bitchy cynical, morally compromised best friend, and bitchy self-involved HOT sister. Katherine Hegel plays a very convincing ignored sibling who always looks out for everyone else. Although the plot may be rudimentary (but what the hell, I'm fairly well-educated and liked 300) if you accept it for what it is, it is not so bad. Perhaps one of the hardest things for guys to do is show their emotions, and we have all experienced hurt or loss, so we can identify with both of the main characters. See this movie with this in mind, and you will not be disappointed. As to the critics, they are all about suffering and neurosis, but life sometimes has other, simpler things in store for us.
