Set in a Tex-Mex border town, Not Forgotten is a classic psychological thriller about Jack and Amaya Bishop, a couple who must come to terms with their tortured pasts in order to save their kidnapped daughter. It is a tale taut with intrigue and steeped in Latino mysticism, where the line between what's real and what's imagined becomes hopelessly blurred.

This rather Low Budget Supernatural/Occult/Thriller has "Taken" quite a Thrashing from Critics and it is Difficult to Understand all the Hate. It is a quite Different Film using Elements of Kidnapping, Alternate Identities, Scary Cults, and Slimy Street Stuff to Concoct an Engaging and Always Interesting Little Movie. The Acting is Uniformly Good, and the Cinematography is Above Average. The Story is Anything but Typical and it has a Creep Factor with its Setting, Make-Up, and Eerie Entanglements that Deliver a Surprisingly Suspenseful Tale of Terror. It is so Good that it almost Begs to have a Bigger Budget and a Longer Running Time to Explore even More this Bordertown Sleaziness and Fringe Religion. This is a Sleeper and most Likely will Gain a Cult Reputation that will Supersede its Initial Cold Reception.

I am giving this film 6 points. 4 for really good acting by everyone involved and 2 for all the stylish imagery. Simon Baker, Paz Vega and the little girl are genuinely evil and disturbed in their respective roles. Since all the characters are twisted, I guess the script called for a crazy plot, but I certainly didn't expect this level of craziness. Every minute was a new insane twist. It was difficult to not scratch my head. The film had one of the most lyrically violent murder scenes I have ever seen on screen but that doesn't really rescue the incomprehensibly lunatic plot. I think the last few scenes made it all the more crazy. They could have at least made the plot a trifle less convoluted if they had tied up at least one of the loose ends by killing off the Roberto/Jack character. But they didn't.The only thing that was truly fascinating to watch was the whole transformation and stripping down of characters to their core evil minimum. In that sense, the film plays more like a stylishly black grisly music video than a horror movie. Recommend it to liven up proceedings on a flat and boring rainy day.

With a wonderfully dark performance by Simon Baker and a plot that takes viewers in a few new directions, Not Forgotten is an extremely well done mystery / suspense / action / thriller. In an era of sequels, remakes and shock value slashers this is truly a unique movie genre and I highly recommend it. After watching I am even more fascinated by the La Santa Muerte cult / or rogue off shoot of catholicism. A few minutes of surfing the web and you can find an entire page that explains this cult > http://www.santamuertenotforgotten.com/Watch with a friend so you can discuss afterwards, it's a movie worth purchasing for your personal library. Die hard Simon Baker fans will enjoy his performance and a few bad ass scenes.

I saw the preview for Not Forgotten and thought it was really good. I would really suggest seeing it. As far as thrillers go, I thought this one was very different, very original. From the very opening shot, I was completely drawn in. There's a great mix of action and suspense, and the scene in the bathroom with the beer bottle is spectacular!! It was incredibly intense. As far as movies to compare it to, I would say "The Forgotten" mixed with "The Missing." One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Definitely see it if you get a chance!
