One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

This was her bid for serious consideration as a dramatic actress by Kelly Brook. Whilst not a good film, it is not as bad as might be expected. It is directed and acted in a professional manner but the script has some atrocious loopholes and at least one character disappears out of the film and is never seen or referred to again. Brook is cast as a female Robinson Crusoe shipwrecked on a barren island along with two other survivors one her husband and the other a seaman and potential lover. Naturally the two men fight over Kelly. There is also voodoo symbolism which is pointless and laid on with a trowel. Normally less is more where sex is a theme in a film, but "Three" would have benefited from more of Kelly's skin. One sex scene would have been more convincing if she had been totally topless. In another scene where she is striding in sand, she should have been nude. This film was a box office dud and probably fared better on DVD. Nevertheless one hopes that this will not be the end of Kelly's film career. It is doubtful if producers will ever beat a path to her door, but she could be well cast as a femme fa-tale in a Bond movie or a female Tarzan or given the current Olympic games as an athlete - in fact any role which emphasises her physical assets and her latent acting ability.

Three (known as Survival Island in the good old' U.S. of A., which is a horrible title), is best known as that movie where Kelly Brook gets her knockers out. That aspect of the movie absolutely does not disappoint. But as grateful as I am that it provided that vital service, I wish it had at least one other reason for me to recommend it. It's basically about three immoral, horrible people who get stranded on an island together after their boat is destroyed, and then proceed to do pretty horrible things to each other. It's not great, but I've seen much worse. Three has a TV movie quality to it, and if you watch it with the appropriate level of expectations, it's not bad. Would I have watched it if Kelly Brook wasn't in it? Maybe. That's more than I can say for most movies that exist solely as an excuse to ogle a really hot woman.

Every now and then a small group of actors get together and make an inoffensive, sex filled location film which is really just an excuse for them to have a bit of a holiday and run around in swimsuits. And so in tradition of the Big Bounce, After the Sunset and Into the Blue, comes Three, a paper thin thriller with some completely gratuitous sex scenes and a nonsensical plot.On the plus side, we get 90 minutes making a very compelling case for Kelly Brook winning a high profile poll recently regarding the greatest bikini bodies of all time, and she is truly a sight to behold. The location certainly looks nice, though it is rather hard to believe we are on a deserted remote island. The performances are all what you'd expect, with Zane easily stealing the film from his rather wooden co stars. Brook is no worse than a thousand other actresses you've seen on screen, and while most of the thriller scenes are rather silly, Manuel's fate does pack a punch. The weakness of the story is that we are never really given much of a reason to side with Jennifer. We see her having wild sex with Jack while tied up in the opening 15 minutes, even sounding open to the idea of a threesome and as the movie develops we can't help but think that Jennifer is the exact type of woman who'd go rolling around in the sand on a deserted island with a hot Spaniard, making her husband's paranoia perfectly understandable. But in the end Three does exactly what it says on the label, and will probably help Kelly Brook top best bikini body polls for years to come.
