Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

'Gone' is my kind of movie. I love a film where you are never entirely sure what is going on. It's a fantastic element for a film to possess, because it keeps the audience involved and interested. 'Gone' is quite a clever story in that sense. In fact it's almost a little too clever for its own good - but we'll get to that a little later. The story revolves around a former kidnap victim whose sister goes missing. We then follow her journey to try and track down the sister's whereabouts. The mystery is both present in the whereabouts of the sister and also whether there is another level to the mystery or not (it has been made clear that she is not entirely right in the mind after the events that happened to her - and even those events actually having happened are under suspicion).Sound like a good set up for a film? It certainly does to me. As I mentioned earlier though the film is a little too clever for its own good. What I meant by that was that the film set itself up for endless possibilities and the chance to have a really clever and mind-blowing ending. Unfortunately though it somehow manages to dodge all that potential and comes up with something extremely bland instead. It sounds like the director wasn't too happy with the studio intervention, and I have to imagine this was the biggest argument they had. A real let down and one of the few flaws I could find with an otherwise excellent film. The pacing is great, the acting is terrific and it's a fun journey. Just try not to let the ending leave too much of a sour taste in your mouth.

Portland, Oregon waitress Amanda Seyfried (as Jillian "Jill" Conway) gets home from the graveyard shift and discovers her sister is missing from the small house they share. Believing she was abducted, Ms. Seyfried contacts the cops. The police don't believe Seyfried. They think she is imagining an abduction. It turns out Sheffield is a former mental patient. Claiming to have survived her own abduction, she was found dirty and disheveled. However, an investigation could not find any evidence of the "pit" where Seyfried claimed she was held, along with the bones of other victims. With the police endeavoring to stop her, Seyfried conducts her own investigation...This story begins as a fairly typical abduction thriller. The sister goes missing, which is a crime needing resolution. Thankfully, the plot does not remain that simple. The "Gone" sister is trumped by another mystery. The real story becomes a questioning of the protagonist's sanity. Before finding out about the missing sister, we need to know if Seyfried's mind is "Gone". Developing these sister story lines, writer Allison Burnett weaves a good yarn, with director Heitor Dhalia and Seyfried handling their tasks well enough...The problem with "Gone" is that it takes too little advantage of its own intricacies. A finer picture would have worked out the complexities with more intrigue. For example, the inter-cutting of "flashback" (or "flash-forward") abduction scenes should have been be held off until after the police describe Seyfried's unconvincing (to them) abduction story; then, we can ponder the role inter-cut flashbacks play in her psyche. Later, we see our heroine driving headlong into danger. While we do roll with the punches and accept Seyfried as one incredible lucky sleuth, her long drive into danger is dumb; better to have had her assume her sister was at the crime scene, but not the abductor.****** Gone (2/21/12) Heitor Dhalia ~ Amanda Seyfried, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Sebastian Stan

To begin with the lead, Amanda Sigfried, looked like her eyes would pop out any minute. She looked weirder than the weirdos in this flick. I couldn't stand her and was hoping someone would just kick her in the ass.Cannot believe she can fire a gun at cops and get away. In other words she was a pain in the ass. She continues to use people throughout the movie. She's nuts!Yet she has time to completely make up her eyes. There are few actresses that bother me and this is one. The stupid writers let her get away. Most of the cast are good, but she ruins this film and they don't have a chance with Miss Bug Eyes.Whatever you do avoid any Amanda Siegfried movies.

i took a look at the rating and was surprised it only rated a 5.9...i would give it at least another 1/2 star. this movie would have been a clunker if it hadn't been for amanda seyfried, i mean she saved the whole movie.first off they shot this movie a little over saturated in color, which hasn't really been done in a serial killer, murder mystery and i think it totally works. another thing its got going for it are that it has just enough night scenes( a little more won't have hurt )and a little bit of rain and drizzle too...again critical to these types of movies. the pace of the movie was just fine and they never give too much away till the end.i thought that one of the minuses of the movie was that they didn't do enough with the serial killer...they didn't really put a face to him...we never learn anything about him and what makes him tick. which leads up to the movie probably being at least 15 to 20 minutes to short. they also tried to give us an ending which hadn't really been done before and i don't know if it works. all in all an enjoyable albeit too short of a movie( what happened? they ran out of money? )kept me interested in what was going to happen next and i never got bored.
