Zombi 3 has absolutely nothing in common with the Zombi 2 (Or Zombie Flesh Eaters in the UK) which was a slow burning masterwork of suspense, mystery and zombie horror which is what made it so good. Zombi 3 takes a different approach, seemingly aspiring to be more of a zombie action film and in the process losing everything that made the original a classic. What makes this film so poor can be broken down into several areas.Acting: The acting in Zombi 2 while not Oscar worthy was better than expected from a low budget Italian horror film and helped add to the film's creepy atmosphere and likability. However, the acting in Zombi 3 is nothing short of painful. The intonation of the actors is often bizarre and unbelievable and brings the realism and horror of the film down drastically. The actor for the doctor is particularly poor causing me to wince every time his character had dialogue. Overall, the acting basically devalues the film massively.Direction and cinematography: One of the most appealing aspects of Zombi 2 was that it featured some amazing shots of the Island that were framed beautifully, especially for a low budget film, and served to improve the film's production value drastically. Camera movement and angles were also carefully planned to create maximum impact. Zombi 3 has lost this entirely with the direction being uninspired and unimaginative. There are also no stand out shots like the film's predecessor.Diversion from the original: This film is not linked to the original in any way except for the title and the appearance of zombies. This is a massive error considering how successful the original film was and leads to some bizarre new ideas in this film that do not work at all. For example, changing the cause from voodooism to an epidemic seems pointless and random, having zombies that move quickly and run is even more bizarre and nonsensical and worst of all a scene featuring a flying severed zombie head is just simply kitschy and awful.Overall: Shoddy acting, boring direction and strange deviations from the original formula make for a truly inferior sequel to a really high quality horror classic.

I'm a big fan of Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2. This is an unofficial sequel, but I'd like to say it doesn't even deserve to be mentioned alongside Zombi 2. The storyline is completely inane, and the effects are utterly atrocious. We get this green like substance on people, whenever they get infected, and it doesn't look convincing at all. Unlike Zombi, where they were truly blood curdling, they look laughable here, and not even remotely threatening. I had trouble paying attention in this one, simply because it's so damn dull, and not much happens. There are zombie attacks, but they lack suspense and excitement. In Zombi 2, you were in fear by the zombies. They moved very slowly and the attacks were filled with tension. This movie reminds me of another horrible zombie film called Hell of The Living Dead. It has terrible dubbing. The actors are simply awful because of it. Beatrice Ring is disposable fodder, and nothing more. There is a scene where a woman gets shoved off a balcony into some water, and a guy goes to save her. He brings her to the surface, and she attacks him. How's that for gratitude? I didn't find this movie to be particularly gory, either. We get a spike in the chin, cut off arm, blood splashing, some zombie bites, but it's not that great. Lucio Fulci became sick and had to leave this project. Bruno Mattei & others took over, and it shows. Even for die hard zombie fans, I'd have trouble recommending this. Watch Nightmare City for an entertainingly cheesy zombie film, and avoid this like the plague1/10

While I rate this movie pretty low, don't think that I necessarily didn't like it! ZOMBI 3 is another one of those unhinged Italian horror movies that came out in the mid to late 80s. And it contains everything we've come to expect from those crazy Italian directors: bad acting, inconsistent dialogue, senseless plots, and unbelievable gore. Ebert once said for every bad movie, there is a good version out there somewhere. And the best movie to compare this to is RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (1985.) The basic story is the same: a government-made virus (in ROTLD it was a chemical) gets loose via a burned infected body and all things (living or dead) return as zombies. That's where the similarities end. In some ways, the rest sounds like the start of a joke: "A bickering couple, some soldiers, and a Winnebago-full of 20-somethings walk into an abandoned hotel..." And from that point on, enjoy the unintentional fun! You get some zombies that are fast, others that are slow, some that talk, a few kung-fu zombies, even zombie birds! As usual with movies like this, there's always a line that I love for it's stupidity. In this one, the characters are boarding up the hotel as a horde of stock-still zombies waits patiently outside. One character says "This'll collapse if they attack all at once." To which, another responds "Let's hope that they don't!" Yeah, that always works in a zombie apocalypse! Not to mention, that hotel is the most well-armed one I've ever seen. It has a crate of M-16s in the basement, a flamethrower and several shotguns. Wow, were terrorists staying there?! Another laughable moment: As a helicopter takes off, one of the characters grabs on, when all of a sudden a horde appears under some conveniently-placed hay and pulls him down. Woven throughout the entire story is a radio announcer whose speeches on nature and peace take on a more sinister edge as the movie progresses. By the end, we know where this is going, but I think his closing speech is chilling. See this movie with a group of funny friends, and do it the MST3K way!

Zombi 3 is a sequel to zombi 2, which was an unofficial sequel to George Romero's 1979 zombie opus Dawn of the Dead. Zombi 3 is a pretty badly made Italian zombie flick from one of Italy's most beloved horror directors, Lucio Fulci. But Fulci and Italian horror films are a required taste. Zombi 3 follows a group of soldiers and vacationers who must battle zombies in a remote hotel. The reason of the zombie outbreak is because some radicals stole a cannister of "Death-1" from the military and accidentally infected themselves. The film is a botched and confusing mess. The gore is decent enough as far as Italian gore goes. Fulci did about 50 minutes of footage, while Mattei came in and shot the opening footage and additional footage after Fulci left due to health reasons. The film has some good special features though. Such as interviews with Mattei and a good quality transfer. It's no Zombi 2 but if you want to be a completest, check it out.
