Overrated and overhyped

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

This movie is exciting enough, it's alright, but it's the type of movie that you just know it's not going to blow your socks off. Or, as the movie progresses, you know that it won't turn into something super awesome.It's got some twists and turns, some kills that are alright. All in all it's alright. Like so very many other movies.It is not scary. The doll-face looks pretty cool, but nothing special. It has some found footage-ish stuff thrown in, some of it is kind of cool, some of it is a little tiring.I think the idea here is pretty good, but it is just not executed well enough. It has been taken in the wrong directions, and ends up being a little too.. bland.

"The Hills Run Red" is one of those slasher movies that you may have missed or have been easily passed by, firstly given it's straight to DVD status and the fact that are literally tons and tons to look through or come across in this genre. Okay there are always a lot of crap that comes out especially the straight to DVD's one because there are a lot of them, but there are times though when you do come across a gem or two and this one is certainly a gem.The plot = A young college student named Tyler comes across a rare slasher movie that got banned 20 years ago, cause it was too realistic and all the prints were destroyed and the director supposed to have died, but Tyler is still keen to track down this cult movie by tracking down his daughter and he and his friends set off to the cabin where it was filmed to make a documentary about it, unaware that the infamous Babyface killer from the long film is all too real and is after them.Okay the storyline alone got me interested and once they set off into the woods, it all turns into pretty much standard slasher fare, which isn't a bad thing whatsoever and there is nothing original about this movie, but again that might be hard to do these days nothing's original anymore. But this movie do deliver the goods and the Babyface killer is more than adequate for the job, he was very effective and brutal and even the backstory was interesting as well. The twists and turns that are throughout this movie were pretty great, and the gore was also great as well, especially at the beginning where we have a child cutting off chunks of his face with a pair of scissors were pretty disturbing and went right through me, I couldn't watch it and made me cringe, Okay this movie does get predictable and some of the characters aren't very likable and show stupidity but that was all part of the fun, and plus the downbeat ending was also rather fun.The performances really make this movie work as well Tad Hilgenbrink is a very decent lead as Tyler and Sophie Monk as Alexia the daughter showed some real range and became one of the more interesting characters in this movie, But William Sadler as the director was the real star he was vicious and really chewed the scenery and in fact all the cast members were very decent.All in all "The Hills Run Red" is just a standard slasher movie that is fun and has slight nods to other backwoods slasher movies, and moves along at a quick pace and never gets boring.

This movie is about a film student who is trying to track down a lost horror film, supposedly its an iconic horror film.The director of the film is lost too and now his only hope to find the film is the director's daughter.Three words to describe this movie : Bloody torture porn.And just like most of the films in this genre, its no exception.Its not that terrifying more gory.As i recall only 2 scenes of the movie actually made me a tiny bit scared.This movie reminded me a lot of the Friday the 13th movies.The reasons include the location, baby face's make up, hair ,nudity etc. I really liked the idea/concept though.It was one of the main things that made me to put it in my watch list months ago.I thought it had great potential to become an memorable slasher flick . But for quiet a few reasons it didn't go that path.I have to say i have seen worse acting in this kind of movies but it definitely could have been a lot better.The camera work was shaky at times.Just by looking at the screen once anyone can get that its a straight to video film.Some of the twists in the movie is good.I like that the film students make fun of the clichéd horror movie plots and you can decide one character's death by yourself(always find it interesting).If you watch it make sure you stay for the end credits because there is a twist scene and a sequel hint which i don't think they are gonna do anytime soon considering its performance. Over all if u like slasher movies the i think its worth watching once.6/10

Well a while back I saw clips of this movie in a fan-made music video and I spent a good 2 or 3 weeks trying to find out the name of this movie ( all I saw was Babyface and some gore shots ). I really looked everywhere for this movie but living in a small town in South Dakota we don't have many stores that have movies.So finally I just started looking online and I found this and was really excited about watching it!But.... when I started it I kinda was disappointed. I still watched it hoping it got better but it really didn't. You could really guess what was going to happen in the next shot and well that's never fun in a horror movie right?I gave this a 4 because the story really didn't capture me and it just didn't interest me all that much.~Joe
