If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

It is good if you look to it as an experiment for German movies and European one at all, even if there is a better European movies than that and i have seen a better European movies but i will not go Tough on this one,finally it's a Horror movie, and don't forget that the production country is "Austria" so it's a great experiment....the visuals could be better and the monsters was so clumsyin the end of it i liked this Little "Merkel" a great performance for her specially.... the cast was not bad at all and i liked them, and they convince me as far as the role written for them

Directly after i realized that it is a German production my finger hovered over the fast forward button. When global warming was mentioned it moved to the stop button. I gave it a few more minutes, then fast forwarded a few times and finally stopped it. German movies are nearby all government financed. We have a budget of around eight billion per year for that. And that means. 1. It does not matter if your movie has success, you already got you're money. 2. You need to transport the "right opinion" with you're movie to get that money from the government. 3. Your "actors" are breed by the socialistic movie industry, what means they do not even reach the talent of the average US school theater class. And all that you can see in this movie. Catastrophes in German movies all happens because of global warming, not matter what it is. Big companies,rich or successful people are always the evil doers. Fighting or argumenting is always acted with loud shouting. Thatfor there is no need to watch a German catastrophe movie to the end. You always know the whole story from the beginning to the end, because its every time the same. We are producing more then 500 movies each year. How much German movies did you had at your cinemas last year?

I'm not even going to waste too much time writing this review. This is basically an Austrian version of a SyFy channel movie. Don't let the high-gloss cinematography fool you. The technical problems of the movie first: horrible English voice dubbing reminiscent of Chinese Kung Fu movies. You'll have the voice actors stop speaking but the live actors are still moving their mouths. Plus, the voice actors did not fit their live actors. Voice actors who sound like they are in high school or college should not be dubbing for live actors who look like they're in their 40s. The other technical problem: get a tripod. These filmmakers need to get the stupid idea that swaying the camera from side to side throughout the entire movie heightens the realism out of their heads. No movie has ever suffered because camera wasn't shaking or swaying. But every movie that has constant swaying or shaking has suffered. Fact.As far as the story goes, there are characters acting real dumb and stuff that doesn't make sense. If you asked me to list at least two dozen really stupid things characters did in this movie, I could give you three dozen in one minute. Just goes to show you that SyFy channel doesn't own the monopoly on really stupid horror.By the way, the creature effects range from mediocre to terrible depending on who you ask.So if you want a SyFy channel movie with an Austrian flair and horrible Kung Fu movie-type dubbing, Blood Glacier is the movie for you.

Just as the title of this review says, this film is nothing short of an ugly hybrid (lets call it a Prius!). I say this as the similarities between this film and the Alien franchise are beyond obvious.The synopsis itself mirrors that of the Alien films in that they both feature a common element; hosts that incorporate their characteristics into their mutant offspring. Don't forget that these offspring just so happen to hate humans and are on a mission to destroy them all. This does nothing but show the viewer that no matter how many ways you try to recreate something special (adding romantic tones, animals, more science, and more drama in general), it just looks stupid (for lack of a better word). Even though it mirrors the Alien franchise significantly, it can be somewhat refreshing (and comically) to view as the alien looks more like The Fly...
