A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

I don't understand why people dislike this film so much? I personally enjoyed this film. I found it entertaining and suspenseful. I was too young when the original came out, so I never watched it. I tried watching it when I got older, and just couldn't get into it. It's all perception, and if you're a huge fan of the original, then yes, you probably won't like the remake, but if you have no relation to the original, then I think you would enjoy it. It has a good cast, good story, and keeps you watching. I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews on here, and watched it for myself. Not everyone is going to like this film, just like not everyone is going to like the original.

I had just finished watching the movie. The ending is not so satisfying for me. Why do most of the story writers don't make happy endings? Jim should be alive too. Since, Johnny Ryder is such an evil man, the couple should have shot him with a gun whenever an opportunity comes in! What's the use of their gun? The police and the villagers were also too narrow-minded to think that Jim and Grace were the suspects! Another annoying scene is the part where the police were chasing the couple, have their own interconnected radios and updating Lt. Estiridge (if I'm not mistaken)about the chase. There's a helicopter / air support following, right? The police manning the helicopter had witnessed everything Mr. Ryder had done with his co-policemen, but still he did not inform immediately the lieutenant until he is shot by Mr. Ryder easily! Nevertheless, the movie is full of suspense and thrill. The actors are very good in portraying emotions like love, fear and pity. But, for me the most effective actor of all is Sean Bean. I'm pretty sure, everybody of us was frightened and mad on his role us the Hitcher.

Attempting to go to spring break together, a couple's trip ends in terror when they accidentally pick up a deranged hitchhiker and are soon caught up in his deadly game while trying to avoid the authorities convinced they are behind the spate of violence. While this one doesn't really hold up to the original, this is still a pretty enjoyable and fun effort. The biggest factor here for this one is the fact that there's a lot more action and general chasing going on throughout here. this one here manages to get a lot more into here than initially expected with the tormenting done here from the start with the initial car-ride that causes them to force him out of the car, a thrilling chase down the highway that pits their crumbling car against his monster truck in a thrilling means of escape before the diversion away and finally the rest-stop diner encounter that's pretty enjoyable as well. That gives the final half of the film near non-stop action here with the capture at the diner, the police station massacre that sets off the final charge and the great car-chase with the police in hot pursuit and the rather enjoyable conclusion there that makes for quite a fun time here. As well, the replication of the signature scene from the original of the friend tied in between the two trucks at the rest-stop and trying to keep him from ripping the body in half is a fine continuation of the events as the lead-in here makes for a thrilling time with the search throughout the compound and pulling the previous events together as they've lead to this if only slightly too reminiscent of that scene from the original without a whole lot of the power and brutality of that one, which is the main thing that's holding this one down. That this one seems to come off more as a straight remake of events here is the biggest stumbling block, as rather than play things out in a new or creative manner, there's a whole series of scenes here taken from the original but given more of an action-based bent that causes this to come off as repetitive without being original or daring. About the only thing it really changes up here is the fates of several of the characters, but even that's not really enough here to do anything new or creative with what's happening here as this one just tends to continue on all throughout in that manner. As well, this one really tends to wallow in contrivance rather than any kind of actual investigative work throughout to follow through its actions, as there's little need to evade the police here but rather stay with them while he's out there on his rampage and the framing is completely invalidated by being with them while the actions occurred, and it really feels more like circumstance that causes them to go on the run here rather than being wrongly framed for the whole ordeal. Beyond this, there's not a whole lot else really wrong with this one.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and strong implied violence against children.

Rating-3/10The Hitcher, a horror slasher movie that is a remake of the 1986 version, but this movie is one that doesn't do anything to make you feel this is done well. Starring Sean Bean in a role he actually takes on well, this movie still fails to ignite genuine thrills and the plot starts to become a little absurd and kind of as if no one actually thought of what was next. Nevertheless this movie is not terrible, but it is a bad one and that contains many reasons. Now if your going to go ahead and make a horror movie and then remake an old one of that, don't do it like this does. The Hitcher becomes a film that's plot is just insane, I mean it doesn't lack it's thrills but still that is what the people behind this seem to want, only big stunts and thrills, no actual real or raw emotion and no thought out story. The movie falls apart mid way through and although still manages to grip you slightly, you do end up watching it in a kind of "I know this is dumb but I'll finish watching" way.Now I said Sean Bean is good and I mean that, in fact the acting grade goes up a slight bit because of him, I mean he is genuinely evil and really gives it his all, he is the star of this and he knows what he is doing. The only real shame is the rest of the main cast who are thrown into a pit of fairly poor acting, Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton are the two main characters here on a road trip, and they really don't add much to this film, both are poor and at times it can seem as if Bean is carrying them a long himself. Now with a movie that is produced by big action crazed Michael Bay, you must expect the most crazy stunts, you know the kind where most would die but not in this. Now the stunts are done well no doubt and some of the settings are really nice, the movie though does nothing to help this and when the stunts come in, it usually becomes a really stupid scene where very little realistic happens. So I guess one of the big questions here is, who would like a movie like this?, well fortunately I can see many will. This is the kind of film where I feel most will know this isn't good but may still enjoy it, I was engaged throughout and even though you can plainly see the holes in it, you can still enjoy what this is(in a sense). I wouldn't recommend this to all though, the movie is a horror but it doesn't have so many scream moments, real jumpy parts, it has some but not enough so this isn't the most traditional of slasher movies. In the end I felt this was worth a watch before I saw, but not after finishing it, the kind of movie that seems kind of an OK watch beforehand but afterwards makes you feel disappointed, but not hateful. Dave Meyers directs this is a way only he can, and only in a way Michael Bay can produce, it's big, loud and scary, but with just a little too much emphasise on the big part. A decent running time(84 minutes) for those who want a quick film maybe on a dark night, it won't keep you up at night and although Sean Bean could haunt your nightmares, he'll probably end up assisted with another terrible cast.
