Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

I know many people have their own views on this or negative feedback on it. Here is in sense what people don't see. Take a family, who are not fit to be parents, or even a stepmother for that matter. The cast are all great. They meet the old folks which to me are freaky and add the storm outside, i see a real vibe of a wizard and witch. The way the house and that is really freaky. I eventually had to admit that Dolls is in my eyes one of the spookiest doll movies and movies out there. In top 10 for sure. The lightning as they walk through the house. The way the dolls eyes mouth moves right time. The pace is great. It really makes you feel the haunted eerie nature of the house. The way the dolls walk stab and kill is beyond great perfect way no cheapness like most moves sadly even Robert The Doll 1 and 2.Which i also have Annabelle 1 was not bad 2nd i hope is really scary. But Dolls even top Child's Play1 and2 for me which gave me nightmares. For when you see it as a real movie not just assume instantly that its a movie and fake, but capture yourself in the movie, lock yourself in. It really feels really eerie and scary the dolls all move and act like their really alive.I might be the only one that does, i don't know. But none i ever seen as a doll movie is as well done as this and freaky. Ralph i am so pleased didn't die, as just having a girl or just the man or just woman live is tiring and no movie out anymore in horror even compares to many older flicks even the lame dumb ones.. Which is sad to me. Even i can make better and that sad.Dolls keeps Ralph alive again i love it. For he was nice and caring, and Mr. Punch he was freaky too, the way they did it was perfect. But horror is always judged the most, but many don't see the things i do in a movie. I am not picky nor that judge-mental. Unless serial killers, they bore me, same old format. The way they ended it, even with the people as dolls at the end was great, and it is sorta like a idea i would do. IF your bad evil uncaring, you will be tested and punched for it. Really creepy idea, makes you wonder how many would do if they were there. Heartless souls hateful racist people. They go there and get a wake up call. All i know is i love this movie best doll one then Chucky 1 2 3, Dead Silence is another great doll one but i hate ending. To me Dolls is a 9.1 /10 in over all movies. If others don't appreciate it, then i see the real talent in this movie. And is one of the best, and scariest ones out there.

I have seen this movie multiple times and I with every viewing I love it even more. The plot is pretty simple and straightforward. To me it is more than a movie where dolls just kill people. No these dolls don't just randomly pick their victims, they really do have a sense of justice. The movement of the dolls is done with stop-motion techniques and convincingly as if they really are alive. The casting is great: the old toymaker and his wife, little Judy, her father and stepmother, kid at heart Ralph and rock chicks Enid and Isabel, this small cast worked wonderfully well together. Kudos to writer and director to make such a coherent and likable piece of art. At last a movie about killer dolls that goes deeper than the typical boring slasher like Child's Play. Has grown into one of my favorites in a short time. If it only had some longer duration...

I normal hate it when the a movie as dream scene near the start of the movie, for this I found the dream scene really fun and a little cute.Judy step mum- is one hell of Evil Nasty b***h, God what the hell is wrong with her and her Dad as to one most nasty and silly parents in the world. (She better off without them)I just could not wait for the dolls to kill them, they got what they deserved.some of the dolls were really creepy and all the razor sharp teeth makes look even more scary and there was some bloody moment in this movie, I would not say gory.I love effects near the end of the movie, the scene. what happens to the father was really good, the good old cheesy 80's effect are great fun to watch. The acting was really good from everyone in the movie 8 out of 10 Great fun movie.

Dolls (1987) ** 1/2 (out of 4) Stuart Gordon's rather strange horror film has six people getting caught up in a bad rain storm so they take shelter in the home of an elderly couple. The old man just happens to be a doll maker, which the young child there likes but soon the dolls come to life to kill the evil adults. DOLLS is pretty good for what it is but after you get done viewing it you notice that you really didn't see too much. There's really not much of a story here and while watching the film you can't help but also realize that nothing you're seeing is really worth watching. I'll give Gordon credit for at least keeping the film interesting as it slowly makes its way to the end but I think a few changes with the screenplay would have really helped things. For starters, I think the entire set-up is rather simple, which a horror film can certainly work with being simple. The problem is that there's really no energy, life or tension anywhere in the film. You basically just sit there watching it without any real emotion or even any connection to any of the characters. The four adults are all rather ugly, stupid or bad stereotypes. The little girl and the other adult, a fan of toys, are too simple and cute to be believed. Even the older couple really don't come to life or show anything for us to like about them. Performances are what you'd expect from a film like this but they were all good enough to fill their roles. The special effects in the film aren't the greatest but considering the budget they get the job done. DOLLS is a rather short film, which certainly helps it but there's just not enough in it to make it fully work.
