Mickybo and Me (2005)

Wonderful character development!

Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

People are voting emotionally.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

I Laughed out loud nearly every 5 seconds at this film. As said in the summary "It is bloody excellent". It has many memorable moments and even more memorable quotes my personal favourite being "we had to sell him to the gypsies for money" watch it despite th 1* votes some people have posted :( . This is definitely one to own on DVD fun for all the family (if none of your family are under the age of 15) Brief plot summary : Two young Irish lads one catholic(mickeybo) one protistent(me) meet coincidently when Mickeybo is chased by bully's (in a hilarious scene) into the other side of Ireland. He meets a young boy, they both become friends and share a obsession with Butch Cassidy after a movie. They plan to run to Australia and end up being ensued by Ireland's finest !!

This is simply a quite brilliant piece of work from all aspects. Each member of the cast adds to the enjoyment of this journey with the two young boys. The whole range of your emotions will be experienced as the boys take you back to the dark place that was Northern Ireland in the 1970's. Definitely a film I shall watch again and again. The realism of the times is eloquently underplayed yet adds much to the film. All the supporting actors give extremely well balanced performances which help you to engage with the extraordinary tale. Camera work is well constructed and accompanied by good background music and audio. Even the background narrative adds to the experience.

I'm sure most people would agree with me its more about the catholics rather than the protestants and its not right. although it is a really class film i just thought more protestant stuff should have been included like bands and how the catholics react etc. its is more of a film for catholics than protestants. me as a protestant am appalled that this comment was made. Watch this movie and you will learn what it's all about to be a Catholic in Northern Ireland, it is making us protestants look bad where every1 knows we are the good side and its the catholics that make it hard for us to live a peaceful life and we just finish the riots after they started them. this was a really good film an funny but they should bring out one of the protestant community. well thats my view and most will agree.

Just take it as it is. Too many people are judgmental.I don't see why this movie did not rate higher. Not all bad came out of that period during the 70's. I expected it to end badly but it did have an upturn at the end. I thank the people who voted in more for its favor.My only complaint was I could not understand the speech patterns of the kids.I am going to try and find out more about it on the net to see more about the two fine boy actors.It did have a few scenes that were out of place but I still rate it 10 in my book.
