Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows

This movie seems to have mixed reviews and has been compared to others and I do see similarities however there are plenty of movies out there that are similar to another or a total rip off or remake whatever so just because it may have similarities does not make it a bad movie. My only issue with the movie is a couple of the first few characters that were offed I was actually liking better than some of the ones that were left towards the end however the story obviously wouldn't have been the same. The movie for the most part kept my interest though I did nod off at one part but maybe that's because it was three in the morning! What really made this movie was the ending. I love a good plot twist or surprise ending and this has a pretty good one. Now this is considered horror most likely due to the violence but I would consider it more of a psychological thriller.

Well, this film used to be one of my favorites some years ago, but re-watching it now, I can easily notice lots of lame aspects. To begin, all the characters are strangely unlikeable. The only death I cared for was the cop's. And it's a strange thing, since I tend to dislike police guys due to the Brazilian ones. Also, it has a vibe much similar to "My Little Eye" and "Cube", which makes it loses some of it's originality. The main thing that make me like it is the ending. It was very unexpected, at least to me, so it satisfies. Of course it doesn't save the whole thing, but leading the spectator satisfied with the ending is something kind of hard nowadays. Most films end up disappointing lately...

Great looking set. Nice (if not original) set up. Everything else was poor or very poor. Hopper and a wasted Peter Capaldi seemed to be playing who can do the worst accent. The film was horribly padded with no less than three montages (we had a power ballad one, an R&B one and even an opera one). I mean, how can you have an extended montage in something trying to be a suspense thriller? At one point it started to look like a Bon Jovi video. The story would have made a passable 30 minute episode of Tales of the Unexpected. Clichés a-plenty and a bunch of two-dimensional folk you really couldn't give two sh*ts about. If I had to pick my favourite awful moment, I think I'd have to go for our 'I-am-a-stereotype-but-dont-you-dare-call-me-a-stereotype' black bloke when he actually started rapping at the stereotypical cop bloke! It was beyond embarrassing.

I don't know if anything I'm saying here actually counts a a spoiler, but I thought I'd put the warning up in case I slip up. Anywho... I watched this movie because my girlfriend told me it was pretty messed up. While it was disturbing on some levels what people will do to survive in this situation, it's not that messed up if a movie if you've watched anything like Hostel or the Saw series. It does however have a pretty decent plot, and the acting was better than I thought it would be. There's an interesting mixed bag of characters here. You have a hardened cop, a priest, a pothead, and even a token black guy. One thing that bugged me about this movie was the pacing. For the first big chunk of the movie, the tension starts to rise as we wait for the first person to die (which is an inevitability in this type of film). At first I thought it was well done and completely necessary while my friends were complaining about the lack of bloodshed, but then they threw in these random music montages that have no place being there. Like more than once. The music didn't even really fit the mood of the situation the first time, and the second time I caught myself thinking "Really? Another one?" And then the rest of the movie seemed far too rushed, and people were dying at an increasingly rapid rate. If you overlook these things it's a good movie to watch when you're bored or waiting for the next big budget thriller to come out. I wouldn't buy it though. Rent at most.
