Such a frustrating disappointment

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

This is indeed a cheap, 90's chop-socky action movie. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. The acting is terrible and the visual effects are cheap. But for some reason, its not a slow movie. And that's good. I think this is the first, live action performance of David Hayter. He looks like a very, young and generic 90's man. He looks like someone that would have appeared in the TV series, "90210". This movie was directed by prop maker Steve Wang, and the fights and stunts were done by a Japanese stunt team that used to do stunt work for the power rangers japan. So the fight sequences look a lot like a power rangers episode, but imagine it to be more like a Rated R power rangers. And that concept alone is worth watching this movie. There is some over the top violence. But its not disturbing. And its a short film. As a matter of fact, i miss action films like this. In my opinion, this film has better "fantasy- kung fu" fights than the Matrix.I feel i can recommend this to "The Evil dead" crowd. The film sequences are over the top. But it still has enough polish and style to be taken as a serious film

I watched this film years ago with my brother. We loved the Anime series and loved the films.I bought this the other week and watched it. I expected to enjoy it with the warmth of nostalgia whilst realising it was a pretty bad film.I actually really enjoyed it! I've watched it again since, maybe it's because of childish nostalgia - but I love the whole Guyver concept. It's quite a mature concept for a film - a guy made loner because of this fantastic gift/burden of alien tech.Dark Hero is sequel, right? I must admit I'm a bit confused now over the various films (I believe there are 2) and the other anime series (at first I thought there was just 1 animated series - now I'm not too sure). For anyone who can suspend belief and enjoy a film for what it is - then I strongly recommend this. It isn't just violence and gore, there's a great meaning running through it, that makes this a Sci-Fi must-watch-classic.

As low budget sci-fi movies go this is quite a interesting flick, with some excellent fight scenes. As for the creature effects, the Guyver/Zoanoid costumes are excellent and overall go to make the movie one of my personal sci-fi favourites. Ever since becoming the Guyver Sean Baker has been troubled by nightmares of alien ships and monstrous creatures. Worried that the suit that aided him in destroying the Cronos Corporation is now corrupting his sense of right and wrong. Although still using his abilities to fight crime he is struggling to fight against the impulse to kill that surges through his veins every time he calls upon the armour. He soon also finds himself being strangely drawn to an archaeological dig in Utah. But why do the digs benefactors seem so familiar and what of the increased reports of bear attacks in the local area? Despite the quite bad acting, Guyver: Dark hero is good fun, is a vast improvement on it's predecessor (Mutronics) and is much more in line with the great story depicted in the manga comics/cartoons!

This film plays like a bloody version of a Power Rangers episode.. The target audience is unknown, as parents will find it too violent for their children, and adults will find the comic book feel to be completely inane.Kathy Christopherson, a sexy little pixy, was the only reason I watched this film through until the end credits. She reminds me a lot of Kari Wuhrer, and that is a very good thing. She deserves much better than this comic styled stinker. The main star David Hayter was laughable, but has now found his niche as a screenwriter with X-Men under his belt. Lets just hope that he sticks to writing, and doesn't attempt another Guyver flick
