Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Common people do things that seem impossible and uncommon. What appears a crazy journey is just an endless meeting. When the leading woman character realizes it, she starts to smile and embrace each problem, tragedy, lack of water crossing the desert as part of her life journey. Every single moment communicates and gives small drops of wisdom. By the way, a proverb say the hardest step in a journey is the first. Tracks are unique and endless. Take your own. In fact, ways chose and draw tracks across our life stories. Wise film!

About a young woman looking to get something different from life during the 1970's era. Bored with a very basic lifestyle with a limited chance of solid career that is geared towards a mans world she decides on a adventure to cross Austrialia on foot ending at the India Ocean. The journey teaches her a life lessons though life changing events along the way. A beautifully shot film with some unusual scenery and situations. Movie does move slow but the director keeps scenes moving so there is no boredom and keeping you interested. Mia Wasikowska is great in the movie along with a great supporting cast.Worth watching even if it is just for the scenery.

I think this movie came up as a suggestion from my Netflix list, and I am so glad that we added it. I was skeptical at first, since it looked like it could have just been another "Wild"(the Reese Witherspoon movie). We liked Wild but we were wary of seeing another derivative of the same movie. But we really like the young actress Mia Wasikowska so we gave it a shot.Beautiful cinematography (and actually filmed in the Australian Desert), great acting, interesting story. Liked it even better than Wild. Mia's acting was great and she deserved the awards she was given, wish she had won more. Too bad this movie wasn't better recognized in the states when it came out.

A film of Robyn Davidson's book in which she recounted her journey across Australia on foot, accompanied by four camels and a dog.An interesting story, beautiful scenery, good acting. Initially it's difficult to sympathise with the main character's circumstances. She admits she wants to get away from people but her trip relies heavily on others in various ways, for which she shows littler gratitude.By the end of the film/trip she seems to have mellowed a little and become more realistic. Perhaps her predicaments and having had time to think result in a less self-centred person who is open to appreciating others.
