Another World (2014)

Wow! Such a good movie.

Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The acting in this movie is really good.

ANOTHER WORLD is another zombie flick made on an indie budget, with a twist that it's Israeli in origin. I found it much better than the usual quality of these productions, with slick, professional-looking photography, and actors who don't make you cringe with their attempts at performances. The story is set in a post-apocalypse world where four survivors hide out on the rooftops and defend themselves from zombies. The pacing is fast and the action, while cheap, is okay. Give it a chance.

IMDb was once useful for checking what was worth watching by checking the ratings. I don't think people can complain when reviewers get carried away with their favorite action movie hero like Thor and other comic book nerdery. But this! Really, even if you mark it by just one aspect...lighting, script, analogy, acting, interacting, gore...on no dimension is it worth more than a 3. Maybe the trailer is worth a 6 as it did do a good job of fooling me into watching. Nothing about this piece demands any attention as watching it it seemed to be mostly disjointed scenes that didn't lead to anything. And just to make it worse the supposed "good guys" were killing sick people possibly this was meant to symbolise killing the mentally ill and the "good guys" are permitted to be judge, jury and executioner. Generally the characters had what I can only describe as a faux humanity. This may be enjoyed by prepper types but just not for me or anyone that likes a movie that needs attention. Maybe things changed but I could not get past the first hour before I had had enough.

First of all, it's not a good movie but tries to set a sort of realistic post apocalyptic scenario after the development of a biological weapon.Farther the lazy performance of the cast, the construction of the characters is pretty good and balanced, the differences between the colonel and the doctor as figurative images of parents of the wizard and the daughter, creates an interesting view about how those four important elements should be work together to preserve balance after a catastrophic event for mankind barely close to the narrator's speech: The destruction of an specie and their environment into a new era.Don't expect a traditional zombie movie because is ain't one of those. The people is infected by a biological weapon so they can die more than once, they can run, etc. It's a totally different version that the typical Hollywood movie. Why 4 stars? lack work of camera, lazy performances, some mistakes in themes of timing, lights, and a couple more of details. It's compressible if the budget is low and is a theme not to usual for the film industry of Israel.

To put it succinctly, this movie has all that modern zombie movies are supposed to have. Incredible gore? Check. Virus zombies? Check. Soldiers shooting zombies? Check. A horror plot that has people falling to their own weaknesses? Check.The shocks are there, the plot is excellent, and the acting is very, very good. My only issue with the movie, actually, was its use of some recognizable actors- casting semi-unknowns makes the movie more visceral, instead of having fans think, 'Oh, I saw that guy in...'.Action-focused, grainy camera work makes it look great. The movie moves along at a nice pace, never leaving you room to get bored.
